Innovation In Sustainable Construction Project

February 2010

Ecoprod are supporting Chesterfield College in their research into water management as part of the Innovation Pathfinder project.

Chesterfield College are one of six regional colleges researching sectors of sustainable construction. Each project member has employed a specialist advisor who will research what innovative components are available, raise awareness in the sector and offer expert advice to design and construction businesses on how such components might assist in meeting Government targets in improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

The East Midlands NTI Construction Network was one of only 5 projects out of 132 applications to successfully bid for the Department of Innovation Universities and Skills Further Education Specialisation (DIUS) and Innovation Pathfinder Fund, being delivered through the Learning & Skills Council (LSC).

The project funding will be used to boost the use of energy efficient technology by providing a local source of specialist knowledge for businesses to access.

Chesterfield College are focusing on Water Management and water saving appliances. Water saving appliances is an area where savings can be made to existing systems and appliances that require the use of mains potable water. Products such as waterless urinals not only save considerable amounts of water but have the added benefit of reducing odours and bacteria issues. Therefore, the team at Ecoprod, with their specialist knowledge in this area, are supporting Chesterfield College at the various roadshows and exhibitions with their product displays, literature and professional advice.
