The environmental impact of sports, concert and conference venues is significant and there’s growing pressure on venue owners and managers to be more proactive in managing resources in a sustainable way. Football clubs such as Spurs are proactively demonstrating their commitment to minimising their environmental impact. For example, Spurs has pledged to eliminate single use plastics from its stadium and installed more than 800 waterless urinals, saving at least 100,000 litres of water per urinal per year.
Initiatives such as these don’t just reduce the club’s environmental impact, they also save it significant amounts of money and increase the quality of visitors’ experience significantly.
Stadium and venue managers are generally keen to be more sustainable but, with so many different angles to consider, it can be hard to know where to start. Delegates at the Ecoprod Ecosummit 2019 gathered to learn about how the very latest technologies could help them lower the environmental impact of their facilities.
- Significantly reduce water usage, potentially cutting water bills by many thousands of pounds
- Cut energy use
- Lowering carbon footprints
