Why miscea sensor taps are the ideal choice for dentists (and why the common objections just don’t hold up)
In dental practices, hygiene isn't just a priority — it’s non-negotiable. That’s why sensor taps like miscea are the go-to choice for clinics that take cleanliness seriously. We've worked with numerous dentists including Philip Friel Dentistry, My Prime Dental and the Sussex Implant Centre, to help them upgrade their practices to miscea systems. And with good reason.

In dental practices, hygiene isn’t just a priority — it’s non-negotiable. That’s why sensor taps like miscea are the go-to choice for clinics that take cleanliness seriously. We’ve worked with numerous dentists including Philip Friel Dentistry, My Prime Dental and the Sussex Implant Centre, to help them upgrade their practices to miscea systems. And with good reason.
But we’ve also heard some pushback.
Some dentists are hesitant, believing miscea taps are:
- Too expensive
- Too tricky to install
- Unreliable or temperamental
- High maintenance with hard-to-source parts
Let’s clear this up.
Misconception 1: “They’re too expensive”
When you look at the big picture, miscea isn’t just a tap. It’s a complete 3-in-1 hygiene station — water, soap and disinfectant, all touch-free and built into one sleek unit.
No need to buy, install or maintain separate dispensers.
No puddles, mess or constant cleaning.
No wasting product or losing time.
In many cases, miscea actually reduces overall costs when you factor in cleaner workflows, fewer repairs, and lower cleaning overhead.
“You’re going to use this tap fifty times a day. Why wouldn’t you make your life simpler?”
– Werner Slabbert
In addition to saving on the cost of maintenance and so on, you’ll also save on the cost of the consumables. With traditional pump activated dispensers users generally pump two or three times which dispenses way more product than is actually needed. With miscea, the tap dispenses precisely 1ml per use, so each 1 litre pouch contains sufficient for 1,000 uses.
Misconception 2: “They’re tricky to install”
Not true. miscea taps are designed to fit into most standard setups with minimal disruption. Indeed, any electrician, plumber or confident DIYer will be well able to install the tap (although we recommend that a qualified engineer does the installation to protect the warranty).
Alternatively we can help you with the installation and we also offer a commissioning service to ensure that the tap is configured precisely to your requirements. miscea taps can usually be retrofitted into your current layout. Many clinics have done this successfully — without major renovations or downtime.
Misconception 3: “They’re temperamental or unreliable”
Again, not the case.
“It has functioned in daily use for around 9 years with no problems at all.”
– Philip Friel
miscea taps are built for high-use environments. They’re tested for reliability and feature advanced German engineering with built-in safety and flushing systems to prevent bacteria build-up, including legionella.
Misconception 4: “They need constant maintenance and the parts are hard to find”
Actually, miscea taps are low maintenance by design.
The soap and disinfectant come in sealed, non-refillable pouches, compliant with HTM 01-05. You just drop in a new pouch — no cleaning, no mess, no downtime.
Parts are easily available and our support network is responsive. But in most cases, our clients find they rarely need anything.
How your practice will benefit from switching to miscea
No more dripping or leaking dispensers
Traditional elbow taps with wall-mounted dispensers often end up messy. miscea’s sensor system dispenses precisely what you need — water, soap, disinfectant — and keeps all residue in the sink.
No puddles. No leaks. No wasted product.
“It makes hand washing a fairly simple task. You don’t need to worry about making a mess of everything.”
– Werner Slabbert
A cleaner, more professional-looking practice
One miscea tap replaces up to three wall-mounted units, freeing up space and improving the aesthetics of your clinic.
“From an aesthetic point of view the miscea tap is outstanding… a fairly easy decision.”
– Philip Friel
Built for WHO-level hygiene standards
Sensor operation eliminates the need to touch the tap, reducing cross-contamination. That’s exactly why organisations like the WHO and Germany’s Robert Koch Institute recommend sensor systems like miscea.
And because the miscea system uses sealed, tamper-proof refills, your practice stays fully compliant.
Ongoing protection with automated flushing
The built-in automatic flushing feature prevents stagnant water and bacteria growth, helping you stay ahead of hygiene protocols without lifting a finger.
If you’re aiming for more than minimum standards — if you want a system that’s reliable, compliant, and built to last — then miscea is the gold standard.
“If you are interested in something different that will go the extra mile, it does make a difference.”
– Werner Slabbert
Thinking about upgrading your setup?
Let’s talk. You might find it’s simpler — and more cost-effective — than you think.
