How do Xeros washing machines work?
Polymer beads called XOrbs are released into the wash and roll between fabrics stopping fibres from harshly rubbing together. The presence of XOrbs mean that much of the water used in a standard wash is replaced, meaning lower wash temperatures and therefore less water to heat. Reduced water also means there is a higher concentration of detergent in the wash process enabling a powerful, yet gentle cleaning action that in turn reduces fabric damage and surface fading.
The characteristics of XOrbs mean they attract dye molecules in the water which stops them from transferring onto other clothes. Their weight helps to keep fibres taught, even when wet, to reduce shrinking. Clothes are less creased, softer and have an extended lifespan. After the wash cycle is over the XOrbs are safely harvested back into the machine for future use.
